*Appraisal Compliance Update

Description
The Financial Institutions Reform, Recovery, and Enforcement Act of 1989 (FIRREA) mandates that each regulatory agency maintain regulations regarding appraisal requirements for real estate transactions, including loans secured by interests in real estate. The purpose of the regulation is to foster institution safety and soundness by requiring that real estate appraisals, particularly those used in loan underwriting, be prepared in accordance with uniform standards by competent people. It should come as no surprise then that the accuracy and integrity of your appraisal process is a focal point of regulatory concern.
